A junction of the M2 was closed due to an ongoing police incident.
The police helicopter was spotted and queues stretched back to Junction 3 for Chatham.
According to National Highways, both Taddington Roundabout and Lord Lees Roundabout were blocked.
Details are scarce, with some claiming a man has been arrested and others saying there has been a crash.
Police have been contacted for comment.
