Police officer struck by car in Common Road, Blue Bell Hill

Detectives are hunting a man who drove a car into a police officer - injuring him.

Officers attended Common Road, Blue Bell Hill this morning around 1am and stopped to speak to people in a car.

A patrol officers had seen a grey Ford Kuga parked at the roadside and decided to carry out a drugs search.

During the search the man started manoeuvring the vehicle which then collided with one of the officers before he fled the scene.

The incident led to the officer requiring hospital treatment for leg injuries.

Following a search of the area the car was recovered in lay-by on Pilgrims Way near the junction with Bull Lane, Eccles.

A quantity of suspected drugs was seized from inside the vehicle.

A woman in her 20s from Maidstone was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into police custody.

Inquiries continue to locate the driver and detectives are appealing for anybody with information that may assist the investigation to contact them.

Drivers in and around the area are also asked to check dash cams and residents with CCTV or doorbell cameras are asked to review any footage.
