A pub and restaurant will be undergoing a six-figure refurbishment to give it a “new lease of life”.
The Star, in Watling Street, Gillingham, will temporarily close on Tuesday, April 22 following the Easter Bank Holiday while renovations take place.
The investment will include modernising the venue’s interior to include an updated bar area and a self-service coffee machine, and upgrading the garden area to feature a new TV screen.
It will also be extending its opening hours and will open an hour earlier at 9am every day.
General manager John Button said: "The Star will close for a short period whilst we undergo a six-figure renovation, giving the venue a new lease of life.
“The pub will officially reopen in May with a fantastic new look, including an updated interior and a brand-new outdoor TV screen, making it the perfect place for friends and families alike to experience great value food and drink at any time of day.
“The Star is a central hub for the local community, and we cannot wait to welcome our loyal customers back soon to experience all the pub has to offer.”
The total cost of the refurbishment has not been confirmed, but Greene King, which owns the pub, promises it will be a six-figure sum.
The Star is part of the Hungry Horse estate and will reopen its doors next month.
