Kelly, who is an industry vocal coach, set up Songbird Sessions with her best friend Gemma Knight-Jones five years ago.

They are hoping their TV appearance will help them to appeal to more people.

Songbird Sessions is a group of six women and Kelly said their primary aim is to spread the message of “self-love”.

She added: “We want to spread the good word of real women singing together, no matter what size or shape, you can own what you love and stay passionate and your dreams really can come true.”

The group perform at corporate functions and weddings and also work as back-up singers.

They were scouted and invited to come along and audition for the new TV show.

Kelly said: “The experience has been fantastic.

“We are real women from real backgrounds and the show really celebrates that.

“The aim is to continue to do what we already do best – singing.”

“We are a group born out of friendship and I’m really passionate about people singing together.”

The group came third in their heat, so will not be progressing to the live show stage.

Kelly added: "We are really proud of ourselves."
