Severe weather emergency protocol put in place by Medway Council as temperatures drop

Rough sleepers are being advised emergency accommodation is open as a warning for icy weather has been put in place.

Those in the Medway Towns are being offered overnight emergency accommodation.

Anyone requiring emergency accommodation is encouraged to visit Kingsley House, Balmoral Road, Gillingham, by 5.15pm this evening and at the same time tomorrow and Thursday.

Accommodation will be available from this evening until Thursday.

Those unable to get to Kingsley House should call the out of hours homelessness service on 01634304400.

A yellow weather warning has been put in place from midnight tonight, with the Met Office warning of some travel disruption.

Lows of 2C (36F) are expected tonight in Gillingham.
