Proposed Halling station pizza takeaway turned down by Medway Council

Plans to convert an old booking office at a village train station into a pizza takeaway have been turned down.

Ian Parris had hoped to open the eatery at Halling station.

The former property surveyor, who runs E's Pizza Revolution from a trailer in nearby Leybourne, applied to Medway Council to take over the redundant building in Station Approach.

However, the authority's planning department determined it would have a detrimental impact on the surroundings.

In a decision posted last week it said the proposal would generate litter, noise, and a high level of vehicle and pedestrian flows.

The venture would have seen a cafe with takeaway and delivery service open next to the platform.
