Coronavirus Kent: Vokes, Rainham and Windmill Taxi company gives away cakes in Medway

A generous taxi firm is recognising those who may need a little something to cheer them up.

Vokes, Rainham and Windmill Taxis, who run cabs across the Medway Towns, have set up a cake giveaway for deserving people who need a pick-me-up.

Anyone who is self-isolating or is a key worker living or working in Medway is eligible for the drop-offs which are carried out by the firm's drivers.

The company teamed up with Berrylicious Cakes by Jacqui, which is based in Rainham.

Mark Robinson, co-owner of the taxi company, said: "We have boxes of four or six cakes and we are knocking out 10 boxes every other day.

"What we are really trying to do is recognise where we have got people in isolation who are starting to suffer.

"If they are suffering mentally with being isolated, this is a good way to make sure they have got things for them.

"We have had lots of requests to send some to different departments of Medway hospital, elderly relatives, bus workers and the police.

"I know they are getting a lot of recognition from people on social media, but we thought it was nice to get some physical recognition for them."

If you would like to nominate someone for a box of cakes, go to the company's Facebook page, and comment on the post about the free cake giveaway.
