Rochester rape: Teenager from Chatham arrested after sex attack in the Vines

A man has been arrested in connection with the rape of a young woman in a park.

The Vines in Rochester was cordoned off yesterday while police investigated the attack on a woman in her 20s.

It happened between 2.30am and 4am while she was walking home from a night out.

Police say the man and woman had met earlier and were walking through The Vines together.

This morning it was confirmed officers arrested a 19-year-old man from Chatham on suspicion of rape yesterday.

He remains in custody while inquiries continue.

Officers are asking residents living in properties close to the area to check any CCTV they may have.
