Rochester rape: Arrested teenager from Chatham released after sex attack in The Vines

A teenager quizzed on suspicion of the rape of a young woman, has been released from police custody.

It was confirmed yesterday that a 19-year-old man was arrested after a woman in her 20s was attacked in The Vines, Rochester, on her way home from a night out.

The sexual assault happened between 2.30am - 4am on Sunday.

Police cordoned off the park and surrounding areas throughout the day.

They believe the attacker and woman had met earlier and were walking through the park together.

Officers arrested the Chatham teen on Sunday but he has been released pending further inquiries until Monday, December 16.
