Teenagers charged after spate of car thefts across Faversham, Medway and Tonbridge

Two teenagers have been charged following several car thefts across Kent.

Between March 1 and March 11, five homes were targeted overnight by two people dressed in dark tracksuits in Medway, Tonbridge, and Faversham.

It is alleged car keys were stolen following searches and vehicles were then reportedly stolen from outside the following homes:

- A Mini Cooper from Beechings Way in Gillingham between 2.30am and 3.30am on March 1.

- A Volkswagen Golf from Shipbourne Road in Tonbridge at around 1.20am on March 6.

- A Mercedes and a Honda Jazz from Maidstone Road in Rainham at around 2.50am on Tuesday (March 11).

- A Kia Picanto from London Road in Faversham between 12.15am and 1.30am on the same day.

An iPhone and iPad were stolen from an address near Walderslade Road in Rochester between 3am and 4am on March 7.

Items were also taken from cars parked in Randolph Road in Gillingham between 8pm on March 10 and at 7.30am on March 11.

Two 17-year-olds from Strood and Southend-on-Sea were arrested on March 11.

They were later charged on suspicion of conspiring to steal motor vehicles, conspiring to commit burglaries, and theft from a motor vehicle.

The suspects have been remanded in custody pending a hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court today (March 13).

Residents with private CCTV or drivers with dashcam, who may have been in the area at the time of the incidents, are asked to check for relevant footage and contact the west Kent appeals line on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/YY/11197/25.
