Three vehicles fire at Gillingham Pier

Police are investigating following a three-vehicle blaze at the end of Gillingham Pier.

Fire crews from Chatham and Thames-side were called to the incident at 10.07pm on Tuesday. Three cars were on fire and flames had spread to a fourth but its damage is thought to be minimal.

Kent Fire and Rescue contained the fire using a hose reel, dry powder extinguisher and air foam.

The fire was out by 11.39pm. The incident is believed to be suspicious and police were called. Spokesman Vicki Foster said: “Officers are carrying out inquiries into the circumstances. No injuries were reported.”
