Toddler airlifted to hospital after collision with cyclist at Jackson's Recreation Ground, Rochester

A little girl was airlifted to a specialist London hospital after being hit by a cyclist.

The toddler was playing at Jackson's Recreation Ground, Rochester, yesterday afternoon when she was in collision with an adult on a bike.

The air ambulance attended and the child, who is thought to be about three, was taken to King's College Hospital with serious injuries.

Her condition at this stage is not known.

Ambulance spokesman Rich Airey said the call was received at about 3.15pm regarding reports of a child being injured in the play area.

An ambulance and joint response vehicle attended.

Police spokesman James Walker said: "Officers were called to a report of a collision between a bicycle and a child.

"Officers attended and provided assistance to ambulance crews, before the injured child was airlifted to a London hospital.

"Her injuries were not reported to be life-threatening."
