Floral tributes left at Bowaters Roundabout in Gillingham after man dies in crash

Tributes have been left by a set of lights where a motorcyclist died after crashing into them.

Emergency services were called to the A2 London Road near to the Bowaters Roundabout, Gillingham, at around 7.25pm on Tuesday, July 28.

A man in his 30s from Medway was pronounced dead at the scene after his black CBF125 he was riding towards Rainham collided with the lights at a pedestrian crossing.

Tributes were left with flowers on the railings opposite Tesco Extra, addressed to 'Andy C'.

One read: "Absolutely gutted I'll never see your face or hear that laugh again.

"You are a top geezer and will never be forgotten. See you again one day, Andy C."

Another tribute from a bystander on the day of the crash said: "To the family of the unknown motorcyclist who passed away here, I'm so sorry for your loss and that he couldn't be saved. Bless you, rest in peace."

The fire service and air ambulance were called to the incident last week, where one engine attended and the road was closed at the junction with London Road.

Police are now hoping to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Spokesman Sally Smith said: "Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or those with any dashcam footage that may assist officers with their inquiries."
