Two arrests after man slashed in the face and two others injured in London Road, Strood

An appeal for witnesses to a serious assault has been launched after two men were injured.

Officers were called at 7.45pm yesterday to reports a man had forced his way into a flat in London Road, Strood .

Two men are reported to have been assaulted inside and one of the victims is thought to have been slashed in the face.

The offender is said to have ran out of the property towards Northcote Road playing fields where he is reported to have attempted to steal a vehicle from a motorist.

An altercation then took place in which the victim was also said to have received injuries consistent with slash wounds while trying to fight him off. The offender then ran away from the scene.

Police attended along with paramedics and the three victims were taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries not deemed life threatening.

As part of their enquiries a 35-year-old man from Chatham has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

A 19-year-old woman from Strood has also been arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer. Both remain in custody pending further enquiries.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident, have CCTV or dash cam footage, or have any further information which may assist the investigation.

The offender is described as a white man, around 6ft tall and very slim. He has a shaved head, with a tattoo on his neck.

He is said to have been wearing blue jeans, a blue zipped up jacket with a white polo top underneath and a navy blue baseball cap.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident, have CCTV or dash cam footage or have any further information which may assist the investigation.
