One man told KentOnline he heard an "explosion" as the vehicle was consumed by the fire.

The fire service, which says the incident is suspicious, sent one engine with the crew wearing breathing apparatus and using hose reel jets.

The suspected arson came just days after a truck was torched in Kimberley Road, which is half a mile away.

Police say the vehicle was set alight at around 6.45pm on Wednesday.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service safely extinguished the fire, which is believed to have been deliberately started.

Anyone with information about the Wednesday incident is asked to call police on 01634 792209.
