A man suffered a deep cut to the back of the head after he was attacked with a piece of wood in an alleyway.

Detectives are investigating the assault, just before 6.40pm on Monday, just off Twydall Green, Gillingham.

The attackers are also said to have inflicted other injuries to his head and face.

Police later seized a piece of wood from the scene, and the victim, who's in his 30s, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
