Investigation after alleged attempt to rob woman of jewellery at bus stop in Lords Wood Lane, Chatham

A man allegedly attempted to steal the jewellery of a woman who was waiting at a bus stop.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (May 7), shortly after 10am in Lords Wood Lane, Chatham, close to Scotby Avenue.

The offender crossed the road to approach the woman, before trying to take her jewellery. She managed to escape uninjured.

Police say the man was average build and clean shaven, wearing blue jeans and a green hooded top with the hood pulled up.

Officers would like anyone who witnessed the incident or who has relevant information - including dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage – to contact them.

Investigators are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a red car who is reported to have stopped and offered assistance to the victim.
