Police nab suspects after commuter attacked near Strood railway station

Police chased two teenagers after a man was attacked after getting off a train.

The victim was assaulted in Canal Road, Strood, at 11pm on Monday.

He was punched and his shirt torn before the suspects ran off in the direction of Rochester.

Details were broadcast to patrols who worked with CCTV staff who spotted two people in the High Street.

They ran from the officers, dropping items and scaling a wall before being caught in Corporation Street.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, possession of a knife and possession of cannabis.

A 14-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife and assault.

They have been released under investigation whilst the British Transport Police investigate.
