Southern Counties East side Hollands & Blair start home campaign at Lordswood's Martyn Grove after long delays to 3G works at Star Meadow

Hollands & Blair begin their home campaign in unfamiliar surroundings this Saturday.

A delay in work on the 3G pitch at Star Meadow has meant they will be sharing with Medway neighbours Lordswood at Martyn Grove, with no end date yet known.

It’s not ideal for Scott Porter’s men but they won’t be using it as an excuse. They welcome Fisher to their temporary base this Saturday.

Porter said: “We don’t know when it is all going to be happening, we don’t know how long we are going to be there, we just have to treat it like it’s our home ground. We can’t let it affect us, we have to make it difficult for other teams and just turn up and get on with it.

“I expect Fisher will be lively but if we do what we do best I expect us to get three points.”

Blair missed the chance to put one over higher-league opponents at the weekend.

Porter’s Southern Counties East side were beaten 1-0 by Isthmian League East Grinstead in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round.

Blair weren’t short of chances and felt aggrieved at not being given a late penalty when striker Tom Walmsley went down in the box.

Porter said: “We had chances, we hit the crossbar, we had one cleared off the line, okay they had a penalty (which Mitch Ware saved), we should have had a penalty in the last couple of minutes.

“I said to the lads, we had to give it a go and I can’t argue as they did, but you have to take your chances and you don’t make mistakes. We made one for their goal, he got in front of someone and two people didn’t come off the posts from the corner quick enough and we got punished.

“After they scored they slowed it down, they went 4-5-1 and we brought on a couple of substitutes that made a difference. We had the chances to get something, we deserved something out of the game but we didn’t take our chances and didn’t get a penalty at the end which we should have got.

“It was a free-hit in the FA Cup, playing a team above, [I’m] just disappointed we didn’t get anything from the game because the boys worked hard.

“They knew they were in a game but if you don’t take your chances against a team above you get punished, that is the bottom line.

“We have to go again Saturday, we want three points. It is not all doom and gloom.”
