Bradley Dack’s working his way back to match fitness after the Gillingham manager revealed the attacking midfielder was carrying an injury.
Dack’s struggled for games this season, making just three league starts, and hasn’t played since late February. He hasn’t featured in either of Gareth Ainsworth’s first two matchday squads.
He’s unlikely to be fit this weekend either as he needs to get back up to speed.
“He had a little knock,” said the Gills boss.
“We're very respectful that over his last few years he's had some major injuries and to come back is a testament to how much he loves the game and how hard he works.
“I've not seen Bradley (play) for a while. I'm a Blackburn fan, so I've seen him back in the day, obviously and I remember him there.
“He's bought into what we are and we talk. Brad's obviously waiting for his chance and he needs to start training and get full training on his body and then we'll see if he can make an impact.
“Brad's in a good place and hopefully we can work together in these next few weeks.
“He’s not far away now, he’s had a little issue and I think he's getting over that now.”
The Gills will have captain Armani Little back available on Saturday, serving a two-game ban after picking up 10 yellow cards.
Since being out, Robbie McKenzie had taken over the on-field captain duties.
Ainsworth said: “Armani's suspension is up now, which is great. He's an experienced player in the team and adds a bit of calmness, a bit of leadership for us. He's great.
“I thought Robbie took (the captaincy) and held it responsibly, doing very well in both games.
“The Harrogate game was really tough for him, the ball was over his head most of the game, but then the other night (on Tuesday) he showed that class that he has on the ball. But then off the ball he had a specific job as well, which we'll keep in-house, but he did it to a tee.
“You can rely on Robbie and that's why he was the (captain) while Little was out of the squad.”
Ainsworth says his team came through the midweek match without any injuries.
He said: “That was really good. I'm quite impressed with the robustness so far of the players.
“We've changed training and sometimes with the intensity, people pick up little things.
“The training pitches as well, this time of year can be quite bobbly because of the changing of seasons. I'm really, really happy with the squad we’ve got to pick from.”
Ainsworth also spoke about goalkeeper Glenn Morris in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
The 41-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, made his 100th appearance for the Gills in the 1-1 draw with Colchester.
He said: “Glenn's been there, done it, got the t-shirt in football. I think he's 600 games-plus probably and 100 for Gillingham, which for anyone is a really good achievement.
“To acknowledge that is the right thing to do. He's been brilliant since I walked in the door, real calm. Almost what you see on the pitch is what he is as a person - calm and assured.
“He adds a good experience to that back line that we have, quite young or middle 20s. They've got energy, they've got enthusiasm. They probably need a little bit of direction and leadership and Glenn's that solid one behind them all.
“I'm sure he's like me, he’ll be saying his career's nowhere near ended yet. Goalkeepers can go on for a long time, can't they? He's definitely done well for me so far.
“I’m really pleased to be the manager when he made his 100th appearance.”
