Chatham Town Women are in top form as they head into another big cup clash.

Chats put 10 goals past Chesham United without reply last Sunday in their penultimate Division 1 South East encounter and are now gearing up for a cup semi-final clash on Wednesday night.

With their name already on this season’s Isthmian League Cup, Chatham now play Portsmouth’s development side in the semi-final of the Combined Counties Cup.

“Since that Isthmian Cup final, the performances have been as good as you could wish for,” said their manager Keith Boanas.

“Individually and team-wise, I had no complaints last Sunday. I couldn't pick on anything at half-time and couldn't say anything after the game except ‘well done’.

“They did the job professionally, and that’s what we should always aim for. If we carry on playing like that, it doesn’t matter who we play at this level, we would have won.”

Chats scored five goals in each half at home against Chesham with Otesha Charles (2), Millie Rayner (2), Amelia Woodgate (2), Megan Maslak, Lucy Jones and Jasmine Auguste among the goals.

Real Bedford have clinched top spot, and the only promotion place in the division, while Chats will finish at least third - and could take second place - dependent on results in the last round of fixtures.

Chatham head to Cambridge United for their final league game next Sunday, ahead of a Kent Women’s Cup final against Dartford on May 1.

Boanas said: “I’m chuffed with the performances in the last few games. I can’t ask for more.

“They’re doing what they’ve been asked to do, which is to see the season out at the highest level that they can.

“If they continue to do that, we could get at least one more, if not two trophies in the cabinet to go with what we've got.”

Looking ahead to Wednesday’s game, Boanas said: “They’ll be really well organised and they’ll come and play with no fear. That’s always dangerous.

“We just have to put in another professional performance.

“I expect a tougher game than we've had recently.

“We'll stick to what we've been doing. They'll be really wary of us. If we do what we're good at, we should come through it but as ever, I'll never take anything for granted.”
