Boss Scott Lindsey believes these are exciting times for Chatham Town ahead of their FA Vase tie at home to Corinthian

Manager Scott Lindsey believes these are exciting times to be involved with Chatham.

Sitting fourth, Chats are in the thick of the Southern Counties East Premier Division title race, six points off the summit, and will hope to progress to the last 16 of the FA Vase this weekend.

Chatham host league rivals Corinthian on the back of successive victories against two fellow title chasers, leaders Beckenham and Sheppey.

Having beaten Sheppey in front of a league record crowd of 927, Chatham won 2-1 at Beckenham last Saturday thanks to Matt Bodkin and Jon Pilbeam strikes.

Lindsey said: “We have won the last two games which were big games for us, and we can take confidence from that into this game.

“Listen, it’s an exciting time for the club.

“We are into the last 32 of the FA Vase, we have recently beaten top of the league and Sheppey, who are our local rivals and are up there as well.

“So everything is going well but, as we all know, football has a nasty habit of kicking you in the teeth when you are enjoying yourself.

“So we are going to make sure we are fully respectful of Corinthian and we’ll make sure that we are ultra-professional.”

Lindsey, who left his role as Forest Green assistant before taking charge at Chatham in October, concedes he doesn’t know much about Corinthian who are three points ahead of the Chats in the league.

It’s the fourth time Chatham have played another Southern Counties East team in the FA Vase this season, having already knocked out Beckenham, Bearsted and Glebe.

“I don’t really know too much about Corinthian if I’m honest with you,” said Lindsey.

“Personally, I’ve not come up against them before. I know a few of the players that play for them quite well, so I know they have some good players.

“It is a bit strange that we are playing a team from our league at this stage in the competition but it is what is. It’s a home game for us which we wanted.

“We’re coming into the game in a good bit of form, so we are confident.”

The winners will earn £1,875 in prize-money.
