Free lockdown home workout sessions with Kent boxing coach Billy Rumbol

Boxing coach Billy Rumbol is producing free online workouts during the lockdown.

The Sittingbourne-based trainer, who has six professional boxers under his umbrella, is keeping busy while at home and keen to get others active.

Rumbol’s workouts are aimed at anyone who wants some guidance to keeping fit and his sessions include key elements to help boxers keep in shape too.

Kent pro boxer Martin McDonagh was starring in his videos recently from the Rumbles Boxing Academy in Sittingbourne but Rumbol had to do a few from his own home after self-isolating. His wife came home from hospital with a newborn baby and the Covid virus too!

All is well in the Rumbol household, however, and it didn’t stop his sessions, which are being produced on YouTube up to three times a week.

Rumbol said: “I was doing some workouts during the last lockdown and decided to give it a go again. We’ve had some great feedback and I just want to help people out.

“There is a lot of talk about mental health and keeping people active is a really good way of helping with that. People are missing out on being able to go to the gym and hopefully the sessions can help.

“It’s been really hard as there have been so few boxing shows. It’s been weird for me but this is a way of keeping in touch and hopefully we get people giving it a go and maybe they might want to start up boxing themselves after the lockdown.”

Rumbol would normally be busy training his fighters. Along with the six elite boxers he also coaches over 30 amateurs. During the lockdown he’s happy to keep the workouts going for free and is considering making it a subscription-based service once normality returns.

You can find the videos on YouTube. Watch one of his sessions below.
