Former Tonbridge Angels player scores winner for AFC Wimbledon against Gillingham

The teenager who scored the winner against Gillingham on Tuesday night was playing for Tonbridge Angels last season.

Jack Rudoni fired home home an 89th minute winner to leave Gills’ play-off hopes in tatters.

Midfielder Rudoni, 19, spent a spell on loan with Tonbridge at the start of the 2019/20 season - then aged 17 - playing a handful of games in National League South.

New Dons boss Mark Robinson - who sanctioned that move to Longmead while loans manager at Wimbledon - was thrilled with the youngster on Tuesday, saying: "I'm just chuffed for Rudi because we know he is capable of a goal like that.

“I think he's disappointed that he's not on six or seven already because he has missed easier chances, as we know. I kept saying to him 'it will come' because he's a great technician. I am sure there will be many more to come."
