League 2 leaders Gillingham have boosted their attacking options with a second deadline-day signing.
The Gills have landed winger Jonny Smith from Wigan on loan for the rest of the season.
The 28-year-old spent five years at Bristol City with loan spells with the likes of Tranmere and Oldham before moving to Burton in 2021 after a promising loan at Swindon in the first half of the 2020/21 campaign.
He made more than 80 appearances for Burton before joining Wigan in 2023, where he has made 77 outings and scored 10 goals.
Smith said: "The staff have been really welcoming. I know Elliott Nevitt and he told me a lot of good things.
"It was a no-brainer to come and join. I like to get at people, score goals, and get fans off their seats!"
Smith has played twice for Wigan this season, as a late substitute in League 1 against Luton and then from the start in a League Cup win over Stockport.
He becomes the second signing of the day for Gillingham boss Gareth Ainsworth following the arrival of Travis Akomeah, also on loan, from Watford.
