Former Gillingham youth players Harvey Lintott and Darren Oldaker score winning goals for their teams Northampton and Chesterfield

Former Gillingham youth player Harvey Lintott scored his first professional goal on Saturday for Northampton Town.

Lintott, who was released by the Gills in the summer, hit the winner for the Cobblers in their League 2 match against Stockport County.

The 19-year-old has featured in all but one of Northampton’s games so far in the league this season, enjoying his spell with a club sitting second in the table. He headed home a Mitch Pinnock corner in the 63rd minute of their game and it was enough to claim all three points.

Right-sided player Lintott, an academy product of the Gills having been there since the age of 12, played six games for the club in the league but joined Northampton on a free this summer.

He wasn’t the only ex-Gills player on the scoresheet on Saturday.

Darren Oldaker - who was tipped for the big time before dropping into non-league - is working his way back up the leagues following his Gills exit. He scored the winner for Chesterfield against Maidstone United in the National League. They sit top of the table after that win.

Vadaine Oliver, who left the Gills in the summer, was also on target. The striker scored a stoppage-time equaliser for Bradford City.

Oliver's goal earned them a 2-2 draw against AFC Wimbledon and they sit seventh in League 2. It was his first goal in 12 appearances.

On the international stage former Gills defender John Egan opened the scoring for the Republic of Ireland in their UEFA Nations League match against Scotland.

The current Gills team are struggling for goals and returned home from Hartlepool with another blank, making it just two league goals from 10 games so far this term.
