Gillingham vice captain Armani Little knows there’s much more to come from the table-toppers.
The Gills sit top of League 2 after eight games but have yet to hit their full potential.
Manager Mark Bonner said from day one that he expected his team to get better as the weeks go by, and on Saturday was critical of their performance after beating Barrow 2-0.
Little agreed, accepting they can do much more.
Speaking after Saturday’s win, he said: “I'm really pleased with the three points. We went into the changing room (afterwards) saying there were still things to work on and that we can play a lot better than that and there are still things to come.
“Winning 2-0 at home, three wins on the bounce is a positive and we’ll just keep building on that really.
“It's still early days, so the table doesn't really matter. Whoever we're playing we're just going out there to do the job and try and get the three points.
“There's still lads that aren't fit at the moment who have been playing games and I think everyone had the same feelings, that there could have been a lot better patches of the game, even though we did win.
“We take the positives and there's still a lot to build on in this group.
“There's lads to come back (from injury) and you want to be pushed at every position and there's depth everywhere in the team. That's what you want, a real togetherness, pushing each other every day in training.”
The Gills still have keeper Jake Turner out injured, along with Conor Masterson, Tim Dieng, Aaron Rowe and Josh Andrews - five players who could be regular starters.
Bradley Dack is working his way towards match fitness while Robbie McKenzie and Ethan Coleman are easing their way back into action from minor injuries.
Little knows that extra quality will further help a squad that has kept up the winning momentum despite the injury issues.
He said: “You can see the depth we've got and the lads that are injured at the moment but there's a real togetherness in the squad and it's going to be a long season, so we're going to need every single body, and I think we're showing that togetherness.
“I think we've got a really good group and everyone's got that one goal. Hopefully we can just keep pushing on and taking it game by game.”
It’s a quick turnaround for the team this week as they welcome Grimsby Town to Priestfield on Tuesday.
The Gills have won their first four league games at home.
Little said: “Hopefully we can continue that home form because it's been a really strong start.
“We’re really enjoying it (at home). Every game’s been a great atmosphere.
“We've had 10 men a few times and the fans have really got behind us and they've pushed us over that line so it's been brilliant.”
