Gillingham boss Steve Evans hopes injured winger Jordan Graham will be back to action soon

Gillingham manager Steve Evans believes Jordan Graham’s injury absence won’t be a long one.

The 25-year-old missed the midweek trip to Bristol Rovers after suffering a hamstring injury in the weekend game against Exeter City.

Graham was left watching the match from home as the Gills won 2-0.

Evans said he thought it would be a case of “days rather than weeks,” that the winger is absent but is leaving it to the experts.

Defender Zech Medley also missed out against Bristol Rovers as he looks to overcome a deep laceration caused by a challenge against AFC Wimbledon.

The Gills boss said: “Whether Jordan or Zech can be fit for the weekend we will leave that in the hands of the medical team.

“I have said many times, we are very democratic, my medical team will tell me when players can come back or are fit to play, gone are the days when managers walk into the medical room and say I am going to take a chance on a player, especially with those two.

“Graham is in the form of his life, he has been absolutely fantastic and is a great lad.

“Zech Medley is highly thought of at Arsenal but he is a kid. He got a knock against Wimbledon, more of a cut, but he has been feeling it.

“He had a two-inch cut and a lot of bruising from a late challenge in the Wimbledon game but the kid wanted to stay on and he got us the points. He was brave. We will probably know later in the week if he is available for selection but we have to make changes for Swindon.”

Gillingham have a swift turnaround before the next game, playing at home to Swindon this Saturday and it might mean Evans changing things around, despite the midweek win.
