Gillingham have completed the loan signing of defender Travis Akomeah on transfer deadline day.
The 19-year-old joins from Championship outfit Watford, the club where he started his career, until the New Year.
Akomeah left the Hornets to join Chelsea in January 2022, after impressing as a 15-year-old in their under-18 side, but returned to Watford for an undisclosed fee earlier this year.
He featured twice for Chelsea in last season’s EFL Trophy, playing the full 90 minutes at Bromley before coming on as a second-half substitute against Charlton in October 2024.
“I am really excited to be here,” said Akomeah, who will be at Priestfield until January 5. “It's my first loan so I am looking to get men's football experience and help the team.
"I would say I am versatile; I am calm and composed in possession. Everyone as a collective has been very welcoming."
Akomeah will wear shirt number 15 and could make his Gills debut at Bromley on Saturday in League 2.
