Gillingham season ticket holders may want to answer the call from that unknown number.

Manager Steve Evans has started calling the club’s fans and will continue to do so over the next few weeks.

Evans - like the rest of the country - is at home but he’s keeping busy.

He has won many sceptical fans over since joining the Gills in the summer, with the club in with a chance of the play-offs before the break in action.

The Scottish boss plans to make calls a daily basis “to check on their general health and well-being during these testing times.”

He said: “Our supporters are massively important to us. I love chatting to them and over the next few weeks I will ring a few every day.

“We are in this together and we need to keep the awareness of staying at home is essential if we are all to win.”

Elderly fan Mavis Harvey was one of those he called and the Gills boss thanked her for her long and continued support, saying: “We will be doing well when we go back!”
