Gillingham will be without Max Ehmer and Callum Reilly for the visit of Wycombe Wanderers

Alex Lacey look set to fill the void left by Gillingham's injured defender Max Ehmer.

A dislocated collar bone keeps Ehmer out of action this Saturday as the Gills take on Wycombe Wanderers at home.

Ehmer picked up his injury in last weekend's 2-0 success at Scunthorpe.

Lacey came off the bench that day but has played very little this season, unable to break the defensive partnership between Ehmer and captain Gabriel Zakuani.

The Gills have found some form of late but so have weekend visitors Wycombe.

"It will be tough," said the Gills boss.

"Wycombe are in form, they've had a brilliant season but we will go and attack them."

While Ehmer is out this weekend, Lovell should have forward Brandon Hanlan back after missing out last Saturday with a hand injury.

Callum Reilly, who impressed in the midweek Kent Senior Cup win over Herne Bay, sits out the last of his three game ban.

Ahead of the game, Gills chairman Paul Scally has hit out at critics, saying they are damaging the club.

For Lovell, he said: "I am not a negative person. I am always positive, even when things aren't going well.

"We all want the same thing, success. If we are all together we have a chance.

"The team in the last few weeks has been consistent. You won't play brilliantly every week but at the moment we are getting the rewards for the work put in on the training ground."

The Gills have saved saved their best results for the away matches during Lovell's tenure and Mr Scally hopes a positive home crowd will help improve their Priestfield form.

He said: "My concerns, indeed all of our concerns must be that it is easy to come to football on a Saturday or evening game and criticise rather than support and I'm sad to say there has been an unusual level of criticism and negativity from a minority of 'fans' coming from all areas over the past year or so.

"This has to stop please for the benefit of everyone, especially the club, the players, but also for fellow supporters. The club and its future success is far more important than any one person, or indeed group of people so again I urge all fans to come together and get behind the team.

"Abuse is cheap and unpleasant to hear, it affects concentration and performance but it does also create an uncomfortable atmosphere that is picked up by everyone in the stadium, and manifests itself to the pitch, the players feel it, no true supporter wants this, it is within our wish to change it."
