Ipswich Town are not taking up a contract option on Jordan Roberts after the forward recently returned from Gillingham loan spell

Gillingham’s departed loan forward Jordan Roberts has been told he won’t be getting a new deal by parent club Ipswich Town.

Roberts recently ended a loan spell with the Gills where he made 10 league starts.

The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of June. He is one of three players who Town have said they will not be taking up year options on.

Ipswich football operations manager Lee O’Neill said: “With so much uncertainty over the game and the financial situation, it’s not feasible for the club to take up the options on the players at the moment.

“The door is certainly not closed though and it’s a situation that we will look at again when the football world becomes a bit clearer.”

Roberts made 17 appearances for Ipswich since arriving from Crawley in 2018 but joined the Gills in January. His two goals for Gillingham came in the same match, a 2-2 draw against Rochdale, at the end of that first month.
