Scott Wagstaff set to face former side Gillingham when Wimbledon visit Medway Priestfield Stadium

Gillingham boss Steve Lovell insists there are no bad feelings between him and Wimbledon midfielder Scott Wagstaff.

Lovell released Wagstaff in the summer, after two years at the Gills, as he looked to bring in fresh blood to the club.

Wagstaff, 28, joined Wimbledon following his Priestfield exit and he’s played in all of their games so far this season. It's likely he'll be up against the Gills this weekend.

Asked if Wagstaff might be looking to make a point, Lovell said: “He might feel that way. You always like to go back to your old club and prove a point but he hasn’t got to prove anything to me.

“I knew he was a good player, it is just that managers make decisions about who they want to bring in and let go.

“Me and Waggy will never fall out about it, It will be lovely (to see him) and as long as he doesn't play too well then it will be alright. It is football, that happens.”

While the Dons picked up free agent Wagstaff, the Gills managed to land Barry Fuller on a free transfer. He left Wimbledon after over 200 league games and leading them to League 2 play-off glory at Wembley as captain - like he did with the Gills in 2009.
