The Gills team was largely made up of first and second year pros, along with a handful of more senior players, including Liam Nash, Navid Nasseri and Darren Oldaker.

Bradley Stevenson shot wide early on against Concord and Ben Chapman also tried his luck from distance, the captain for the night also shooting the wrong side of the woodwork.

It was left-back Simpson who put the Gills ahead, with 10 minutes gone, finding the bottom corner from just inside the area.

Gills keeper Louie Catherall had to make a couple of good saves to keep his side infront.

Chapman headed another chance wide for the Gills and the home goalie comfortably held a long range effort from Nash.

Mbo put the Gills 2-0 ahead on 36 minutes, fending off a challenge and firing the ball home across the goalkeeper into the far corner.

Nash and Nasseri went close before the break in what was a dominant half for the visitors.

Concord started the second half well but Nash could have finished the home side off, putting a couple of chances wide.

Hlabi replaced Nash and within seven minutes he had the ball in the net, heading home to put the Gills 3-0 ahead. The home keeper made a good save to deny the young striker a second moments later.

Mbo made it 4-0 with a minute left, beating the keeper after good work from Hlabi, Oldaker and TJ Bramble.

Gillingham: Catherall, Huckle, Tucker (Sheminant 85mins), O'Mara, Chapman, Simpson (Bramble 74mins), Oldaker, Stevenson (Yeboah 60mins), Nasseri (Woods 60mins), Nash (Hlabi 73mins), Mbo.
