Invicta Dynamos’ record points-scorer has come out of retirement to rejoin the club.

Andy Smith has scored 442 goals and provided 412 assists in a Mos shirt but personal commitments prompted him to hang up his skates at the end of last season.

However, he has since become available and Dynamos head coach Kevin Parrish has brought him back to Silver Blades in time for Sunday’s home game against Chelmsford Chieftains.

Parrish said: “Andy’s record is simply phenomenal and beyond question. When the chance to sign a player of his ability becomes possible you don’t even think about it, you just make it happen.

“He’s been a talisman for the Dynamos over recent years and I’ve no doubt his pace, goal-scoring prowess and creative vision will only further bolster our already strong forward lines.”

He added: “Technically, Andy never retired. He had a lot going on over the summer with his wedding and other commitments and was not sure he was in a place to properly commit to the club in 2013/14.

“However, circumstances have now allowed him to join up with the team and he is raring to go and get back out on the ice where he belongs.”
