The Shouting Men: Gillingham defender Baily Cargill writes exclusively for the KM Group

We are just three points outside the play-off positions now and a promotion push would be great to be a part of.

Even as a loan player, to push for the Gills to go up, it’s something I would love to be a part and it would be a big moment in my career if that was to happen.

I only have four more games left of my loan and don’t know what the plan is yet but I am loving playing football and my time at Gillingham.

If the best thing for me, for Gillingham and for Bournemouth is to stay for longer, then so be it. I would be more than happy to do that.

Playing games is the most important thing for me to develop as a footballer and at Gillingham I am getting the game-time that I need. It has been enjoyable at Gillingham and we’ve had a lot of positive results.

We have won four of the five matches I have played in and in the Oxford game, we were unlucky not to have got a result. I am glad I have made a difference.

The main thing for me was to get game-time and prove myself as a player, as well as to help Gillingham.

Just to be back playing, after nine months out injured, is good for me. It has been a tough year.

Since I have been here, a talking point has been that there hadn’t been a clean sheet in the league, especially for the defenders and the keepers but that result on Saturday was a weight off our shoulders.

Now we can move forward and not have to worry about people talking about it.

The main thing that I wanted to improve in the team when I first joined was the clean sheets.

We are so good at attacking and always look like we can score, so if we keep a clean sheet we will win pretty much every game because we are so good in the attacking third.

That one on Saturday was the first in the league all season. That is a positive step in the right direction and the more clean sheets we get, the more results we will get.
