It’s the 12th year Barclays has supported the event, which has generated approximately a quarter of a million pounds of charitable funds in that period.

Money received from the sale of raffle tickets as well as drinks at the Shepherd Neame charity bar will be matched pound for pound by the bank.

Suzanne Giles from Barclays said: “We’re really looking forward to supporting and running the charity bar again. It’s going to be really busy, but we thoroughly enjoy it.

“We’re also looking forward to using our local pound for pound to make sure that we’re supporting the charities for the KM Quiz.”

Organised by the KM Charity Team, the Maidstone quiz takes place at Maidstone Leisure Centre in Mote Park on November 9. The event will raise money for services supporting child literacy and road safety, one charity chosen via a prize draw and the Kent Messenger’s charity of the year, the Heart of Kent Hospice.

KM Charity Team chief executive Simon Dolby: said: “We’re so grateful to Barclays for their long and loyal support for the KM Big Charity Quiz.

“The money that they’ve donated in the many years they’ve been involved has provided a real lifeline to organisations providing invaluable services across the county.

“And we really hope as many people as possible come along in November to enjoy the Maidstone Big quiz and a pint or two at the Shepherd Neame bar, thus helping to ensure Barclays’ charitable legacy in Kent is even more substantial.”

The top prize for the winning team at the quiz is £150 worth of DFDS Seaways vouchers for each member, and the best four teams will go through to the county final.

The entry price for an eight-person team is £65 per team, but there is a £10 discount when you book using the discount code KMNEWS18.

In addition to Barclays, Shepherd Neame and DFDS Seaways, the quiz is supported by accountancy practice Wilkins Kennedy, Hornby and Office Angels.
