Concert raises £14,000 for medical research

A SUMMER open-air concert at Goodnestone Park at Deal proved to be a winner for the organisers. The Blues Band, with singer Paul Jones, played to a packed audience in the grounds for the fund-raising concert and £14,664 was raised for charity.

The organisers returned to Goodnestone Park at the weekend for the official handover of the cheque to the medical research charity Action Research. Annabel Marriott, the charity's area manager for Kent and Sussex, received the donation from Nigel Colebrook, of Colebrook, Sturrock and Company, sponsors of the Blues In The Park event.

She said: "We are absolutely delighted with the result and are extremely grateful to Colebrook, Sturrock and Company for their fantastic support of the event."

Action Research has been responsible for the first polio vaccine, as well as funding the development of the artificial hip replacement and developing specialised treatment of burns injuries to children.
