And now Broadstairs-based Recruitment People is urging other businesses to get involved – either by registering teams to take part or by sponsoring the event.

Recruitment People’s Gemma Bevan suggested the golf day offered businesses a “fabulous opportunity” to raise their profile and for networking and teambuilding – and all while raising money for valuable work promoting children’s road-safety and literacy skills.

Announcing her firm’s support for the fundraising challenge, Ms Bevan said: “The Recruitment People are delighted to support the KM Charity Team’s autumn charity golf and networking day at the fantastic Broome Park golf club in Canterbury.

“This event offers a fabulous opportunity for great golf on a fantastic course, followed by lunch, and all while raising funds needed to raise children’s literacy and road-safety skills throughout Kent.

“It’s a team competition, so come and join the fun. You will need a team of four, and it will cost you £250.

“If you would like to sponsor a hole or the whole event, the KM Charity Team have a number of options available which will give you great publicity both on the day and prior to the event throughout the local media.”

The event takes part at Broome Park Hotel in Canterbury on Friday, October 12, and the money raised will help fund the KM Charity Team’s initiatives with schools such as reading-reward challenge Buster’s Book Club and green-travel scheme Walk on Wednesday.

Buster’s Book Club encourages families to leave the car at home while travelling to and from school, and Wow incentivises children to read extra at home. Inter-school challenges see schools competing for trophies, tickets to leisure attractions and visits from celebrity story-tellers.

Ms Bevan added: “The day will start with breakfast in the club house. You will then have the opportunity to warm up on the putting green and the driving range prior to the main golf event, which will start at approximately 8.30am.

“After 18 holes of golf, you will have the chance to relive the best shots of the day with an informal drink. This will be followed by a two-course lunch, a charity raffle, prizes and awards.”
