Chris Morgan won a two-night stay in a fisherman’s hut after taking part in the KM Group’s Abseil Challenge in Maidstone. He was the biggest individual fundraiser on the day, collecting £1,572 for Sevenoaks Area Mind.

The 150 year-old fisherman’s huts, which have been converted into sought-after holiday accommodation, line the seafront in Whitstable.

Chris, from Sevenoaks, shared his prize with his daughter Katy and her boyfriend Chris Thomas.

Prize winner Chris said: “It was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend and staying in a historic place so close to the beach and the centre of Whitstable made it special, so thank you for the prize!”

The Maidstone Abseil Challenge raised more than £20,000 for charities across Kent.

The challenge was supported by accountants DSH, scaffolding firm Island Scaffolding and Miller House.

Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team said: “We offer top prizes at our challenge events and anyone who takes part is in with a chance to win. I’m delighted that Chris enjoyed his prize – he earned it!”

The next abseil event organised by the KM Group’s charity department will take place in Folkestone on Sunday, June 15. For more information and to book your place, visit www.kmcharitychallenge.co.uk and click on ‘challenge events’.
