KM Charity Team CEO Simon Dolby met club members this week to brief them on the detail of the scheme.

Mr Dolby said: “The question and answer section of these talks are always excellent – but Malling club members surpassed themselves with the number of questions and their depth of knowledge on literacy issues and how Buster’s Book Club will assist. It was a great evening and I very much hope they will support a local school to take up the scheme.”

Run by educational charity the KM Charity Team, Buster’s Book Club encourages children to read extra at home, with classes competing each week to be awarded the Reading Class of the Week Trophy. A monthly inter-school reading challenge awards winning classes tickets to leisure attractions or visits by storytellers.

The initiative is supported by Little Cheyne Court, Kent Community Foundation, Golding Vision (part of Golding Homes), Orbit, Rotary, Medway Council, Specsavers, Leeds Castle, Diggerland, Wildwood, Acorns Read and Grow, Crown Foundation, Revolution Skatepark, and Kent County Council.

There is still time for schools to join the scheme for 2019 and applications received by 1 December will go into a prize draw to win 400 books. Visit www.BustersBookClub.co.uk or contact Kay Devine at kdevine@thekmgroup.co.uk or on 0844 264 0291.
