Students have taken the lead not only in raising £4,500 to revamp and computerise the library but also in the day to day running, management and promotion of the facility.

Beatrice Manicardi, head girl at the school, said: “The library is open four days a week. On Friday we’re tidying it up and putting things back where they belong. Two days are run by year five and two days are run by year six.

“Every child in the school has their own barcode so when they come in to borrow a book we scan their barcode and we scan the barcode in the book. We have around 4,000 books.”
