Radio station KMFM has launched a competition to find two starters aged under 18 for family challenge event the KM Colour Run.

The winners and their families will join the KMFM street team at the run’s starting line, and then man a colour station, from where they will throw coloured powder all over the runners.

To enter, children need to submit an inspirational message no more than 30 words long for those taking part in the event at the KMFM website.

The event is supported by Specsavers and takes place at Betteshanger Park near Deal on Sunday, June 9.

Event coordinator Dominic Comins of the KM Charity Team said: “The Colour Run is such a brilliant family event, enabling children and parents to have such a great time together.

“And I can think of no better way of getting in the thick of things than with this competition.

“For anyone else keen to take part in the event, there’s now just a month left in which to confirm your participation.”

Colour Run participants can use the event to raise money for any charity of their choice, with the funds generated being split 70-30 between their good causes and the KM Charity Team’s children’s road-safety services.

For adults, the entry fee is £20, but there is a £5 discount when using the booking code KMNews19. There is a flat rate of £12 for children aged four to 16, and children under four go free. Under-16s must be accompanied by adult runners.

The price includes a limited edition KM Colour Run T-shirt, sunglasses, a small bag of coloured powder and a medal on completion.
