Three R’s Teacher Recruitment has pledged its support for the KM Charity Team initiatives Walk to School, Young Cook and Kent Teacher of the Year Awards.

Alison Nightingale of the Ashford-based firm said: ‘We’ve been proud sponsors with the KM Charity Team for many years now, and this year – 2018-19 – we are really proud to be supporting three initiatives: the Walk to School initiative, Kent Teacher of the Year, and also Young Cooks.”

Her colleague Leah Macdonald added: “Three R’s are really proud to sponsor Young Cooks again this year. It’s a vital life skill, and watching the creativity and the imagination of the dishes these children prepare and can create in the kitchen is amazing.

“Nothing is more important than getting the next generation fit and healthy. That’s why we are backing the Walk to School campaign.”

KM Charity Team chief of executive Simon Dolby said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Three R’s on board for another year.

“Partnership is central to everything we do at the KM Charity Team, and it simply wouldn’t be possible to achieve our educational and environmental goals if we didn’t have supporters working alongside us like Three R’s.

“And we take their continued support as a ringing endorsement of these three initiatives.”

The KM Charity Team’s Walk to School work aims to promote child health and reduce air pollution through schemes such as Walk on Wednesday (Super Wow), which encourages families to walk to school and sees schools competing each week to win a Green Class of the Week trophy. A monthly inter-school green travel challenge awards winning classes tickets to leisure attractions or visits by storytellers.

Grace Dowd of Three R’s said: “Walk on Wednesday is all about switching from the school run to green travel. Three R’s really want your school to get involved, to encourage families to walk, cycle, scooter or park and stride to school.”

Masterchef-style kitchen competition Young Cooks is open to children aged six to 19 from across the South East. The deadline for this year’s competition is September 1, and you can find out more information, including entry details, at www.youngcooks.org.uk.

The Kent Teacher of the Year Awards are announced each May. Three R’s Nicki Curry said: “Kent Teacher of the Year is a fabulous initiative for Three R’s to be involved in because it really rewards all the people that work in schools – both teachers and the administrators – and it appreciates all the hard work that they put in to our education system.”
