Sign up for Guy Fawkes firewalk

For some people, there’s no such thing as too hot, meaning the transition of this year’s sweltering summer to autumn will lead to a serious case of seasonal adjustment disorder.

But the KM Charity Team have just the thing to keep a smile on these heat lovers’ faces: this November, it is staging an autumn firewalk and fireworks display at Kent County Cricket Ground.

The event, which takes place on Monday November 5, follows on from a spring firewalk in Maidstone, when fundraisers generated thousands of pounds for good causes of their choice and the KM Charity Team’s literacy initiative Buster’s Book Club.

Once again, the autumn event will be managed by specialists UK Firewalk, whose founder former firewalk world record holder Scott Bell will train participants before they walk across coals with a temperature above 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fundraisers, who must be 18 or above, will be in safe and experienced hands throughout the challenge.

They are asked to aim to raise at least £100 in sponsorship, and anyone who individually raises more than £200 will be entered into a draw to win a luxury spa day for two, including massage treatments or an afternoon tea.

The cost is £25 per person, which also enables fundraisers to enjoy the fireworks afterwards for free. To get a £5 discount, use the booking code KMNEWS18. Supporters can purchase tickets at a discounted rate to watch the both fireworks and the firewalk.

70% of sponsor monies will go to the fundraisers’ chosen good causes, with the rest going towards the KM Charity Team’s charitable work promoting children's literacy.
