The event was held at Swale Sixth Form in Sittingbourne whose hospitality and catering students treated delegates to a two course lunch.

As well as evaluating the charity's mission statement and published values, the 20 delegates also began planning a strategy to attract extra supporters and members.

Oliver Ross, Head of Centre at the Swale Sixth Form, invited the charity to stage its away day in the venue's function rooms to give his students the opportunity to test their skills. The student team cooked roast pork chop, parmentier potatoes, savoy cabbage and apple gravy, followed by sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.

The convenor for the day was Teresa Curteis, Head of Traffic Management and Travel at the University of Kent, who is a former Trustee of the KM Charity Team and a passionate ambassador of its walk to school initiative.

Simon Dolby, Chief Executive of the KM Charity Team, said: "The day was extremely worthwhile and brought the whole team together to look at a number of big issues. To also be treated to such a fantastic meal by the chefs of the future was brilliant. Our charity is passionate about giving youngsters opportunities to shine and so it was highly appropriate for us to stage our team event at Swale Sixth Form Centre. I am so grateful to Oliver and to Teresa for their support."
