The awards, which are organised by Westwood Cross, London Array and the Thanet Extra, are open to good causes, volunteer groups and individuals making a difference to the community in Thanet.

This year’s awards ceremony will take place in Grade II Listed hotel The Yarrow.

The four-star boutique hotel situated at Viking Bay in Broadstairs is owned and operated by the East Kent College Group, and provides training for would-be hospitality professionals across Thanet and the South East.

Yarrow manager James Redshaw said: “We’re incredibly proud to be hosting these important awards at our hotel, as we like to think of ourselves as being at the heart of the community we serve.

“We’re also really happy to be able to showcase our hotel to all of the guests, and – with a fabulous event space – it promises to be a real celebration for everyone who attends.”

Built in 1894, the Jacobethan-style building has been recently refurbished, and has 23 bedrooms and five suites.

Its fine-dining restaurant offers locally sourced, classic and contemporary dishes, with private dining available for groups of all sizes. The hotel also has space for parties of up to 120 guests.

Awards coordinator Karen Brinkman said: “I am so excited that the awards ceremony is taking place at this unique and fantastic venue.

“With its emphasis on building value for the local community and transforming young lives, the Yarrow embodies everything that these awards are about.

“It’s a stunning building with beautifully refurbished interiors and facilities, and I am sure that everyone who attends the ceremony will have a wonderful night.”

The winners will share £10,000 in prize money. Westwood Cross, London Array and the Thanet Extra will each present a cheque to a chosen charity for £2,000, and the shopping centre and the newspaper will champion their winners over a 12-month period.

Another £4,000 will be shared among three runner-up charities and three individual volunteer winners.

Nominations for the awards can be submitted at thanetcommunityawards.co.uk. The deadline for entries is noon on November 27.
