Homes 'would create 900 jobs'

PLANS to build 1,200 new homes on the Ashford barracks site have been unveiled by George Wimpey and Westbury Homes, who claim the development could create 900 new jobs.

Residents will be asked what they think of the scheme in a series of leaflets and roadshows around the Godinton Park area.

But some councillors are already voicing their concerns. At a council executive meeting Cllr Paul Clokie said: "I do think every house in the development should have the space for at least two cars."

Cllr Peter Davison drew attention to the density of housing. He said: "I think there are certainly areas where there is cramming."
