Savills: Buy a piece of World War II history at Broadwater Down

Fancy owning a piece of World War II history?

Savills is selling a 1.9-hectare woodland site set in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) at Broadwater Down containing a subterranean network of bunkers and passages dating back to 1940 and 1941.

Some of the bunkers and passages are 60 feet below ground, with the entire network extending to around 7,000 square feet.

The estate agent is also marketing 8.93 hectares of Grade 3 agricultural land at Hamsell.

The site, which includes a small wooded shaw and is also in an AONB, is available in two lots or as a whole.

Plot one extends to 4.49 acres and plot two is 17.68 acres.

Additionally, Savills is offering a 9.8-hectare mixed broadleaf woodland with some mature standing trees and areas of natural regeneration in Jarvis Brook, on the eastern border of Crowborough.

Designated as a site of nature conservation interest, it was identified in the National Forest Inventory 2020, with part of the land included in the Ghyll Local Nature Reserve.

Lastly, Savills is selling a 7.74-hectare broadleaf woodland set within an AONB at the Old Scout Field at Bunny Lane.

The area is identified as deciduous woodland in the National Forest Inventory 2022 and borders Hargate Forest.

The striped green area is to be retained by the current owner.

All of the land is freehold and will go to auction in March 2025 unless sold prior.
