Medway dad shares his experience with the Medway Children and Family Hubs

A proud Medway dad has shared his experience with the Medway Children and Family Hubs ahead of Father’s Day on Sunday 15 June.

See below how Chris lights up as he talks about his little family. “We’re one of three now,” he smiles. “Me, my partner Jordan, and our little daughter Nova who just turned two. Time is flying.”

After relocating to Kent and becoming a parent for the first time, Chris found the early days exciting but also a little overwhelming. “There is no instruction manual for becoming a dad,” he says. That’s when he discovered the Medway Children and Family Hubs, which quickly became a reassuring space for support, learning and fun.

He shared how good it’s been to get out of the house with his daughter, spend quality time together, and how refreshing it is to see other dads at the hubs too. What surprised him most was just how much free support was available for families, often in ways he hadn’t expected.

“Particularly when we did the breastfeeding support with BesideYou Medway, which was absolutely brilliant. She supported both of us and gave me everything that I needed to do as a dad to support my child and my partner. It's very much had a lasting impact on our lives.”

Father’s Day is a reminder of how important it is for every parent to feel included and supported. Across Medway, many dads are finding connection and reassurance by getting involved in local groups, building friendships, and discovering new ways to feel confident in their parenting journey in diverse and welcoming spaces.

.

One of those spaces is DadSpace Medway. A friendly, informal group where dads, co-parents, carers and grandads can meet up, grab a cuppa, go for a walk and share experiences with others who get it. There’s no pressure, just a relaxed vibe and a good chance to connect.
